Bionic Commando Theme (Surkin Remix) from Matt Brown on Vimeo.
Surkin recently jumped back on my radar for his recent remix of Juan MacLean’s One Day but this rework of classic Capcom 8-bit Bionic Commando is just amazing. I loves me some Chiptune for sure.

Bring Back the Running Man
Monday, May 4th, 2009Video: Prodigy - Warrior’s Dance
Wednesday, April 15th, 2009You knew this one has been coming… people have been going crazy for Warrior’s Dance off of Prodigy’s newest and they’ve just dropped an awesome new viddy to accompany it as the second single. Will be nice to hear some official remixes to boot.
And since we had no Old Skool Sunday this week, here’s the original (or the one I remember at least)… the 1991 True Faith Release - Take me Away:
Video: Mistabishi Printer Jam
Monday, March 30th, 2009Refueling my love for my long lost Imagewriter II, Hospital Records Mistabishi drops this glitched up drum and bass tune laden with sample printer sounds. On top of being a suprisingly catchy tune (for drum & bass) the video’s stop-motion-y printer monster is one of the coolest things I’ve seen come out at a time when most dance music videos are just cut up 80’s movie samples. Nice one!

We’ve had a long standing love for Sammy Rubin and Jeremy Haines aka Project Jenny, Project Jan. Their combination of live show, dance party, and visual stimulation has always blown people away at our parties and we thought it was well overdue to have them back. Their kinetic energy inspired Billboard to call Project Jenny, Project Jan’s live show a “shockingly dynamic, danceable, and hilarious affair” and VanityFair.com called the band “awesome” and enthusiastically recommended its show “to anyone with functional knee and elbow joints.” The duo’s originality impressed Ear Farm enough to name Project Jenny, Project Jan one of its top ten bands to watch out for in 2008. Sure enough, that year Project Jenny, Project Jan was featured in the film Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, performing their rowdy crowd-pleaser “Negative.

These boys have been throwing parties and spinning all over the cityand with some big, big names lately and tonight they’ll bring that energy to Public Assembly with all your favorite indie and electro.
Plus, your hosts and resident Crooked Disco DJs, Morsy and Kestar - back from SXSW and fresh off an amazing new residency at Le Poisson Rouge (thanks for coming out!) hold it down with their trademark mix of Disco, Electro, Classic House, Good Hip-Hop, Baltimore Club, and Breaks (basically, whatever makes you move.

Slow Jam the News
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009Black thought killin’ it on the backing vocals. Skip to 3:30 or so to pass over the rest of the okay monologue for some slow jam goodness. Also, check out the Roots Jam sessions this month and next at the Highline. These are going to be classic shows for sure.
