So let’s talk about Juno What?, the live synth-funk trio out of Boulder, Colorado. These boys walk a thin like between late night electronic and traditional jam band. There are elements of improvisation (a good thing if you are, after all, a band) but lots of sycopated rhythms and infectious keys to keep you dancing. It fits in there nicely with contemporaries such as Boombox and Pnuma Trio. It’s a refreshing change as dance music starts taking a turn for the hyper-syncopation of techno and assorted deep rhythms.
Juno What? is giving their entire album out for free on their myspace so go grab that and they have a ton of live stuff over on Archive.org if you like your music a little more freeform.
